Dallas Bartholic hurled a complete game shutout to lead Carpinteria High baseball to a 6-0 win over Santa Maria on Wednesday at Calderwood Field in Carpinteria.

Bartholic needed just 83 pitches to toss seven shutout frames, facing just four batters above the minimum and striking out two in the victory.

“Dallas set the tone on the mound. He works quickly and the ball is often in play so the defense is ready,” Carpinteria High head coach Patrick Cooney said. “Catcher Micah Smith was really good as he called a good game, received well and caught a rare baserunner trying to steal.

“Infielders made the plays that they were supposed to and the outfield made some good plays too.”

After the first three innings went scoreless, the Warriors plated four runs in the fourth and tacked on two more in the sixth en route to the win.

Jonah Hernandez tallied a pair of hits, drove in two runs and scored two runs of his own for Carpinteria. Meanwhile, Noah Morente went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and Bartholic had two hits and an RBI.

“Santa Maria is a good team. They just got their CIF-SC finalist basketball players back so they will get better as the season moves forward,” Cooney said. “We’ll face them in April at Santa Maria so they will be looking to turn the tables.”

The Warriors (3-0) will host Providence of Burbank on Saturday at 11 a.m.
