DC DeMilio

It is with great sadness that the family of DC DeMilio announces his passing on March 17, 2025 at the age of 86. DC was born to Lea and Carl DeMilio on Oct. 23, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois.

DC remained in Chicago until he enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17. Stationed at Point Mugu as an air controlman, he decided to embrace the warmth of the Central Coast of California, making it his lifelong home.

After retiring from Raytheon, he turned his attention to covering local high school sports for the Goleta Voice. A passionate sports fan, DC remained loyal to his hometown Chicago sports teams, especially the Cubs.

In the early 2000s, he took part in Jay Buckley’s Stadium Tour, visiting ballparks across the country, and often gaining behind-the-scenes access thanks to his press badge from the Goleta Voice.

An avid cyclist, DC rode in numerous fundraising events for the Lung Association. He married his wife Roberta on a memorable cycling tour in Lake Tahoe.

DC will be remembered for his dry humor, kindness, and always positive outlook on life. He had a cheerful demeanor and loved spending time with his family.

His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched with his generosity and warmth.

DC is survived by his wife Roberta Solodkin; brother Phil DeMilio (Marilyn); sons Matthew DeMilio (Darcy) and Steven DeMilio (Amy); and grandson Mason DeMilio.

A memorial service will be held in the near future.
