SBCC’s defensive woes continued on Friday in an 8-0, five-inning softball loss to Chaffey at Pershing Park.

The Vaqueros (4-12) had more errors (6) than hits (4) in the non-conference game. Olivia Calderas tossed a four-hitter for the Panthers (6-15).

“That’s not what we were looking for at all,” said SBCC coach Justine Bosio. “I think we’re pressing too quick and not sitting and thinking about, ‘OK, if the ball comes to me, what am I going to do?’ It’s about being totally present on every pitch, kind of like what we talked about yesterday. There’s a lot of little things we need to clean up.”

Last Saturday, the Vaqueros scored 25 runs while going 1-1 at the Orange Coast Tournament. On Thursday and Friday, they managed just two runs on 10 hits in losses to Oxnard and Chaffey.

America Dominguez and Alexis Allison both went 2-3 with two RBI to pace Chaffey’s 10-hit attack.
