Sheriff’s deputies investigating a suspicious package in Goleta evacuated a building and closed several roads for hours Monday morning.

Hollister Avenue was closed between Los Carneros Way and Aero Camino from about 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Sheriff’s spokesperson Raquel Zick said the package turned out to be a bag full of personal items and was not hazardous.

During the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office asked people to avoid the area and detour around the closed roads.
