Detectives are investigating a stabbing that occurred Wednesday night near San Marcos High School in the Goleta Valley, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded shortly after 8:48 p.m. to the incident on San Simeon Drive near Turnpike Road, Raquel Zick, sheriff’s spokeswoman, told Noozhawk.

The victim reportedly was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries.

The person’s name and details on their condition were not available.

Several suspects reportedly were seen running north on Turnpike Road, and a search was launched by deputies, aided by a K-9 unit.

It’s unknown if any arrests have been made, and no other information was provided by the Sheriff’s Office Wednesday night.

A portion of San Simeon drive was expected to be closed for several hours while the investigation was continuing, Zick said.
