Law enforcement officers converged on a Buellton neighborhood late Saturday night to search for a stabbing suspect.

Emergency personnel were dispatched at approximately 10 p.m. after receiving a report about a stabbing on Second Street.

The victim, whose name wasn’t available, reportedly had a neck wound, according to emergency dispatch reports.

Santa Barbara County sheriff’s  deputies established a perimeter to search for at least one suspect, with the focus including Jonata Middle School.

There were reports that multiple people fled from the scene after the stabbing.

A Calstar medical helicopter and an American Medical Response ambulance also were dispatched.

The patient was loaded onto the ground ambulance, which drove to River View Park to meet the helicopter to transport the victim to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

The main suspect was described as a white male wearing a black-and-blue “Thrasher” t-shirt, with black jeans and a black backpack with roses on the straps, according to a tweet from the Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone who sees the suspect is advised not to make contact, but rather to call 9-1-1.

Additional information was not immediately available.
