District Attorney John T. Savrnoch invites the community to visit the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office for a Día de los Muertos celebration 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at 1112 Santa Barbara St., Santa Barbara.
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican tradition that honors loved ones who have passed away and celebrates the lasting connections they continue to hold with family and community.
“The altar provides a place for remembrance and reflection, honoring the lives and memories of those who are no longer with us,” organizers said.
“As a District Attorney’s Office, the work of the office brings employees into contact with victims, families, and community members whose lives have been deeply affected by loss,” Savrnoch’s office said. “This celebration offers an opportunity to recognize the importance of remembering loved ones and honoring the lasting impact they have on our lives.”
The community can attend the celebration and view the altar in the lobby of the District Attorney’s Office.
The altar will be on display starting Monday, Oct. 26, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
