Joyce Dudley

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley, was reappointed chair of the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, a position she has held since 2016.

Dudley’s reappointment was announced recently by Gov. Gavin Newsom. Dudley has been a member of the commission since 2013.

Dudley has served as county district attorney since 2010 and was a deputy district attorney in the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office from 1990-2010.

She was director of Child Development Programs at the Community Action Commission of the County of Santa Barbara from 1984-88, and child development director at the Children’s Home Society of California, 1979-1984.

Dudley earned a master of education degree in early childhood education from Antioch University, a master of arts in education from UCSB, and a law degree from the Santa Barbara College of Law.

Her commission post requires Senate confirmation, and there is no compensation.
