The Lompoc Hospital District Foundation will host a free lecture about the diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Dick DeWees Community and Senior Center. Reservations are not required.

Dr. Hsien C. Young, who has recently joined Lompoc Valley Medical Center, is board certified in neurology and sleep medicine and will educate about sleep apnea, a potentially serious sleep disorder.

Dr. Young will discuss various treatments for sleep apnea, including nonmedical, adaptive ventilation devices, mouthpieces, surgery, and medications.

Dr. Young has worked as medical director for SleepMed in Santa Barbara. He earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He has completed fellowships in sleep medicine and neurophysiology.
