Beginning Wednesday, donations for Alpha Resource Center’s thrift stores will be accepted at its new donation center at 3485 State Street in La Cumbre Plaza — in the building that formerly housed the Sears Auto Center.

The center is moving from its current location on the Alpha Resource Center campus on Cathedral Oaks Road in order to provide more space to process donations, and a more convenient location for thrift store donation drop-offs.

Alpha Resource Center of Santa Barbara provides family, youth, and adult services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing family support, work and volunteer opportunities, social opportunities, and more throughout Santa Barbara County.

Alpha Thrift Stores — located at 5624 Hollister Avenue in Goleta and 700 North Milpas Street in Santa Barbara — are owned and operated by Alpha Resource Centers, providing funds to support Alpha Resource Center’s mission.

When the relocated Alpha Thrift Store Donation Center begins operation on Wednesday, it will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

In the beginning, the donation center will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but the organization said that phase two of the move will include accepting donations seven days per week.

More information on Alpha Resource Center can be found on its website and donation guidelines are available on the Alpha Thrift Stores webpage.
