Volunteers will be at the Lompoc Walmart this weekend to collect donations of new items such as clothing, towels, rain gear, hygiene items and more for attendees of the 12th annual Santa Barbara County Veterans Stand Down.

Donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in front of the store, located at 701 W. Central Ave.

Another donation event will take place Oct. 5-6, also at the Lompoc Walmart.

Additionally, a one-day drive-through collection event will occur Oct. 2 at the Santa Maria Fairpark, 937 S. Thornburg Ave.

For those unable to donate in person, an online site through Walmart includes a list of needed items with access to the donation link found at sbcountystanddown.com.

Hundreds of veterans are expected to attend this year’s Stand Down from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Santa Maria Fairpark.

The Stand Down offers veterans – particularly those who are homeless and at-risk – hot food, showers, clothing, hygiene items and medical examinations.

Veterans also have access to more than 100 service providers offering social services, legal aid, resume-building, job opportunities and more.
