It was a high school coach’s delight seeing so many student athletes setting personal records in the final league dual meet action of the track & field season.

That was the case at Dos Pueblos on Wednesday in the Chargers’ double-dual meet against Buena and Pacifica.

The boys swept the Bulldogs (111-3)  and the Tritons (88-34), while the girls beat Buena (98-6) but lost to Pacifica (66-63).

Dos Pueblos varsity athletes set 15 PRs and won their events and the JVs had 13 in the final meet before county and league championships and CIF competitions.

“There were incredible performances by our student-athletes today, and our coaches looking through the results to find the names to put on the watch-list for end-of-season award consideration,” said coach David Jackson. There are a lot to look through.

“Of the 36 events won by a Charger today, 28 of them came with a personal record included! For me, when over 77% of the winning marks are PRs, that’s a reflection of the individual determination felt throughout our team.”

Among the highlights, Gabriel Runyen ran a PR of 22.87 to finish third in the 200 and clocked 11.44 in the 100, tying him for second with teammate Dylan Orquiola.

In boys varsity pole vault, three Chargers set PRs and climbed up the league rankings with their exhibition performances. Joey Snodgress cleared 11-10 to rank fourth in the league,  Thomas Chase went 11-0 to move into fifth and Colby Todd went over at 10-6 for sixth position.

DP has five of the top 10 pole vault marks in the League.
