Eleven former Dos Pueblos baseball players are on the rosters of college baseball teams around the country.
A few saw action for their teams last week. They include:
- Evan Steinberger (Dos Pueblos class of 2020): The sophomore catcher at Division 2 University of Colorado, Colorado Springs caught his former Charger teammate Cole Philip’s start and got a hit, a RBI, and threw out a runner. In his next game, he went 1 for 2 with two walks.
- Conner Gleissner (DP ’20): The sophomore pitcher at D2 Cal State San Marcos got the opening-day start for the Cougars against Biola and went threes innings with 3 strikeouts.
- Cole Philip (DP ’20) – The sophomore pitcher at D2 Colorado, Colorado Springs got the start in the Mountain Lions’ second game of the season and went four innings with 4 strikeouts.
- Caleb Severson (DP ’18) – The junior infielder at NAIA Vanguard University got a pinch-hit appearance in his debut.
- Jake McBride (DP ’17) – The grad student pitcher at D2 Concordia University Irvine threw a hitless scoreless inning in his debut.
- Nico Martinez (DP ’19): Junior pitcher at D2 Cal State Dominguez Hills pitched 6.1 innings of relief, struck out eight and allowed two earned runs in a loss against Concordia Irvine.
- Jordan Rico (DP ’22) – The freshman lefty at SBCC has thrown 3.2 innings of relief, struck out four and picked up a win during the Vaqueros’ 7-0 start to the season.
Other Chargers on college rosters who have yet to start their season include:
- Kellan Montgomery (DP ’22): Freshman pitcher at Division 1 Cal State Long Beach.
- Andrew Guardino (DP ’19): Junior pitcher at D1 Tennessee Tech.
- Evan Kling (DP ’18) – Senior catcher/DH/1B at D3 Nebraska Wesleyan.
- Greg Marmo (’22) – Freshman infielder at D1 Gonzaga University who moved from DP to Florida for his senior season.
