Dos Pueblos boys golf captured first place at the Coyote Invitational at Calabasas Country Club’s par 72 course on Monday.

All three local Channel League schools shined at the invitational, with the Chargers (313) taking first place, Santa Barbara High (316) finishing in third and San Marcos (319) slotting into fifth out of 20 teams.

Dos Pueblos

The Chargers shot a 313 as a team, which was 25-over-par and good enough to earn the top spot alongside Buena.

“This victory was a true team effort, with every player contributing under the pressure of live leaderboard updates, mirroring the intensity of professional tournaments,” Dos Pueblos head coach Kevin Ahlers said.

“Throughout the day, DP fluctuated on the live leaderboard, but as the final holes approached, they found themselves leading by a narrow margin. Every stroke became crucial in the closing holes.”

Teddy Vigna finished with an even-par 72 to lead the team and finish tied for third place individually out of 100 golfers.

He was followed by Laith Reynolds (75, 9th), Scott Nightingale (11th), Orlando Ramirez-Gijon (90, 61st) and Colt Roberts (91, 68th).

With the championship on the line, the tiebreaker came down to Roberts, who bested Buena’s fifth golfer by seven strokes to secure the title.

“This senior-led squad continues to showcase remarkable composure and teamwork,” Ahlers said. “While golf is often seen as an individual sport, high school team golf is something special—it requires collective effort, and every stroke counts. Today, Dos Pueblos proved just that.”

The Chargers will take on Pacifica and Oxnard on Thursday at River Ridge Golf Course.

Santa Barbara High

The Dons turned in a strong showing of their own, shooting a 316 to take home third place as a team.

Graham Chapman led the way with a score of 74 to finish in sixth place individually while Alex Ortega (77), Liam Horn (78), Elliott Blinderman (87) and Peyton Webley (88) followed.

“Altogether it was a great round on a course played for the first time,” Santa Barbara High head coach Ryan Throop said. “I know the boys were striving to win the tournament. I am proud of their determination on firm greens, and bouncing back from errant shots on a narrow course.

“It was good preparation for the beginning of Channel League tomorrow.”

The Dons will open up league play against Ventura on Tuesday at Olivas Links Golf Course.

San Marcos

The Royals’ team score of 319 was good for fifth place to round out the local squads competing.

Andy Keenan finished atop the San Marcos leaderboard with a score of 74, and he was joined by teammates Austin Downing (77), Himmat Singh (83) and Ethan Klawuhn (85).

“We had a really bad start, so I was proud of the guys for being able to keep grinding and turn it around as best we could,” Royals head coach Jeff Ashton said.

San Marcos will begin Channel League play against Buena on Tuesday at Olivas Links.
