The Dos Pueblos boys held off Pacifica at the end of a roller-coaster Channel League game Wednesday for a 46-44 win.

Both teams were able to take leads of up to six points during the game, but the other would then go on a run to tie or take the lead.

Pacifica led 25-25 at halftime, and 40-38 after three quarters. Then Dos Pueblos outscored the Tritons 8-4 in the deciding quarter.

“The officials let us play tonight, and we were able to match the physical play in the fourth to hold them to four points,” Charger coach Joe Zamora said.

Pacifica had a last-chance possession with just under three seconds left.

“We switched on D and they got a shot off, but it rimmed out and we were able to win the game,” Zamora said.

Grant Hughes had an outstanding game on both ends, and led the Chargers’ scoring with 18 points. Justin Stock added 17.

Shane Grant, Micah Goss, and Matthew Zamora “were consistent offensively and defensively for us tonight for a team win,” Zamora said.

With the win, Dos Pueblos improves to 3-8 in league play and 8-16 overall. The Chargers host league-leader Oxnard Friday night. The Yellowjackets are ranked No. 1 in CIF-SS Division 2AA, with a spotless 11-0 record in the Channel League and 23-2 overall.
