Dos Pueblos boys lacrosse pitched a first-half shutout en route to a 14-3 win over the Thacher on Thursday in Ojai.
The Chargers controlled the pace on both ends of the field to race out to a 9-0 lead by halftime and never let go of the lead, scoring once in the third and four times in the final quarter to put the finishing touches on the win.
Koa Birchim tallied five goals and two assists, while Jack Finneran ended the day with three goals and three assists. Kingston Strebel recorded six saves after relieving starting goalie Danny Perez.
“I thought Thacher played a great game,” Dos Pueblos head coach Lucas Martinez said. “They clearly had a plan to pressure out and make us uncomfortable, and they accomplished that.
“I thought they forced us into a lot of sloppy plays, and their goalie made some great saves. Getting that game out of Koa was big for us, as we really needed a catalyst out there, and he provided that.”
The Chargers (15-0, 6-0 Channel League) will host San Clemente on Friday at 4:30 p.m. in a matchup of CIF-SS powerhouses. Dos Pueblos is currently ranked at No. 14, while San Clemente is at No. 15.
