Dos Pueblos used a solid possession game and the goal scoring of Daniel Finerman, Jack Finerman and Orion Prewarski to defeat Village Christian, 13-7, on Saturday and advance to the CIF-SS Division 3 boys lacrosse quarterfinals.

Daniel Finerman led the scoring with five goals and an assist, Prewarski had four goals and Jack Finerman added three. Gus Miller dished out three assists.

Village Christian (17-3) played an aggressive, physical style.

“We dominated time of possession, controlling the ball on offense and riding extremely effectively, limiting Village Christian’s opportunities,” said coach Lucas Martinez. “When the Crusaders did get the ball, senior defensemen Dash Roshell and Brody Fredrickson played lockdown defense, holding Village Christian’s high-flying offense in check. When they did get shots off, senior goaltender Salem Bawaneh was up to the task, making eight saves, most of them at crucial moments.

“We played an extremely well-rounded game, with everyone doing their job and trusting their teammates,” added Martinez. “The offense moved the ball extremely well, working to find the best shots.

“Village Christian is an extremely athletic, physical team, and I’m proud of the way our guys showed up and matched their intensity level.”

The Chargers (12-3) will play either top-seeded Santa Monica or Long Beach Wilson in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. If Santa Monica wins the second-round game on Monday, the game will be at Santa Monica.

If Wilson wins, the game will be played at Dos Pueblos.
