Luke Zuffelato scored 36 points to lead host Santa Barbara to a 70-57 win over Righetti in action Thursday at the Santa Barbara Holiday Classic.
“It was a nice rebound game after not playing particularly well the night before,” Dons coach Corey Adam said, referring to Wednesday’s loss to Valley View. “We had good player and ball movement and made shots we missed in the previous game.”
Santa Barbara led 17-13 after the first quarter and never trailed, going up 35-28 at the half. The lead extended to 60-46 after a 25-point third quarter, including 16 from Zuffelato.
Julian Espinoza provided a spark off the bench, knocking down two 3s for six points. Carter Battle was consistent throughout the game with nine points. Finn Whipps and Jack Holdren continued a streak of three games combining for double figures at the center position.
The Dons are now 7-9 overall and 2-1 in Holiday Classic play. They play Moorpark at 1 p.m. Friday, the final day of the event.
Holy Martyrs 59, Dos Pueblos 54
Dos Pueblos’ Justin Stock scored 15 points and Grant Hughes added 10 in a 59-54 loss to Holy Martyrs in the third day of Santa Barbara Holiday Classic action Thursday.
The Chargers led 33-30 at halftime.
“It was a good experience for some of our players to see this type of pressure defense,” Dos Pueblos coach Joe Zamora said.
“We had a short lived lead, but they were able to dictate some of our offensive possessions. I was proud of the way my players competed the whole game.”
The Chargers are now 5-8 overall on the season and 1-2 in Holiday Classic play.
