Grant Hughes and Micah Goss had 11 kills apiece to lead Dos Pueblos to a sweep at Nordhoff Saturday on scores of 25-22, 25-13, 26-24.
“Nordhoff kept the play alive numerous times with some really sweet hustle plays,” Chargers coach Ehren Hug said. “Hats off to them.”
Ewan Richards had 31 assists for Dos Pueblos, along with two kills, a block, and two digs. Matthew Wilcox and Jan Schmidtchen had five kills each, with Schmidtchen adding four digs, two aces and one block.
“Senior libero Tzevon Lovejoy-Hall had a solid night with his jump serve, ripping three aces on 16 attempts,” Hug said. “Tzev has been taking a lot of extra opportunities in practice to work on his jump, and it has been finding the court a lot more these last few weeks. Super proud of his dedication thus far.”
The Chargers, now 14-6 overall, travel to Ventura Tuesday to begin the second round of Channel League play, starting at 6:30 p.m.
