Dos Pueblos boys water polo’s postseason run came to an end with an 11-10 loss to Loyola High in the CIF-SS Div. 1 semifinals on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
The Chargers cap off their season with an overall record of 25-6, including a Channel League championship.
Dos Pueblos got out to a slow start, trailing by as much as four goals in the first half before heading into halftime with a 7-4 deficit.
The Chargers continued to chip away at that deficit throughout the second half until they rallied behind goals from Grant Nelson and Eli Carnaghe to tie things up at 10-10 with two minutes left on the clock.
However, Loyola came through with a clutch goal and got back-to-back defensive stops to pull out the semifinal victory.
Nelson led the way on the offensive end, scoring six goals and dishing out three assists. Meanwhile, Channing Wigo, Adam Gelman and Ben Fuhrer scored one goal apiece.
Koa Zertuche capped off an impressive freshman season in the cage with seven saves and three assists.
