Dos Pueblos and Carpinteria High cross country competed in the annual Dos Pueblos Invitational on Saturday in Goleta.
Dos Pueblos
The Charger girls won the sweepstakes title, while the boys team placed second overall.
“That’s a winning combination from top to bottom,” Dos Pueblos head coach David Jackson said. “It’s not just our current CIF-ranked squad making noise. The future of Dos Pueblos Cross Country is looking fast and fierce.
“I’m proud of how these girls support each other no matter the conditions. Today was warm, the course wasn’t easy, but they were tougher. The boys are on the rise too. Freshmen leading the charge, Sophomores right behind, and the upperclassmen keeping spirits high. The future’s bright for the Chargers.”
Cate Bishop led the girls with a third-place individual finish and a time of 19:11. She was followed by Vienza Machuca (19:19, 4th), Vero Durham (20:27, 6th), Madelyn Myers (21:00), Mara Powell (22:16), Anna Matthews (25:02) and Aya Bowman (28:18).
As for the boys, Tristan Marston crossed the finish line in 16:42 to take home third place. Adrian Rubio also turned in a strong performance with a time of 17:59 to come in 15th place overall.
