A whopping 15 Dos Pueblos student-athletes finalized their commitments to play their respective sports at the college level in a ceremony on Friday inside Sovine Gym.

The 2026 signing class for the Chargers featured four football players, four members of the aquatics program and a trio of track & field standouts.

Micah Barnhart – Champan Football

Barnhart will be spending his college years in Orange County as he continues his academic and football careers at Chapman, a Division-III program.

“I’m going for their film school. It’s the fourth-ranked film school in the nation, so being able to play the sport I love and also pursue my career, it’s really important to me,” Barnhart said.

Barnhart has been an impact player on the outside for the Chargers throughout his high school career, making big plays at wide receiver and defensive back.

“It’s just a tribute to all four years of hard work… It’s also a big tribute to my coaches,” Barnhart said of his signing. “There were times earlier when I was an underclassman when I wasn’t confident in myself.

“[Coaches] giving me that confidence and pushing me is what really brought me this point. I’m really thankful to all my friends, family and coaches.”

Iyad Ahmad-Reda – Pomona Pitzer Football

Ahmad-Reda will also be playing football at the Division-III level beginning this fall, as he will take his talents down to Claremont at Pomona Pitzer.

“I chose Pomona over [other liberal arts colleges] because I wanted the academics and football is going to be a big part of my life, so I want something that puts the two together,” Ahmad-Reda said.

Ahmad-Reda also played a key role in the Dos Pueblos football program in recent years, growing into a dominant force on the defensive line.

“It feels pretty good,” Ahmad-Reda said of signing. “As a freshman, I played, but I didn’t feel like I really produced well. There was a lot of work in the classroom and on the field as well, so it feels like this is kind of bringing that all together.”

Kaarlo Malik-Anderson – Cal Lutheran Football

Malik-Anderson is set to become a Kingsman this fall, as he put pen to paper to study and play Division-III football at Cal Lutheran.

“When I went, I just felt so much love,” Malik-Anderson said of Cal Lutheran. “It’s just a really beautiful campus… It just felt like that’s where I wanted it to be and that’s where I had to be.”

The hard-hitting defensive lineman will look to begin his Cal Lutheran career on a high note, as he did with the Chargers, as he was named the Tri-County League Co-Defensive Player of the Year last fall.

“I got a little bit of goosebumps. I’m not gonna lie,” Malik-Anderson said of the feeling when he signed. “It just feels like a really great opportunity to see all my friends and family sit in the stands and cheer me on.”

Andrew Schultz – Azusa Pacific Football

Schultz rounded out the four-person signing class for the Dos Pueblos football program, as he will be playing Division-III football at Azusa Pacific.

“Schultz is, in my opinion, one of the bravest players on our team,” Dos Pueblos head football coach AJ Pateras said. “To want to be a quarterback is incredibly challenging. Everything good, everything battles, comes back to you. You are the face of a football program.”

After contributing as a kicker in his junior season, Schultz took over as one of the team’s main quarterbacks in the fall as the Chargers went 4-6.

“[Schultz’s] work ethic put him into this position,” Pateras said. “His diligence in communicating with coaches, asking coaches, ‘What do I need? What can I do?,’ He marketed himself. Again, showing courage and determination.

“He’s going to have to continue to show that determination of courage. That’s what it’s gonna take to survive at the college level. He’s already shown the habits needed.”

Ben Fuhrer – Loyola Marymount Men’s Water Polo

Fuhrer will continue his water polo career at the Division I level as he heads south to compete for Loyola Marymount University. Fuhrer was honored at Dos Pueblos’ fall signing day.

Aricin Marshall – Fresno Pacific Men’s Water Polo

Marshall will be heading north as he furthers his academic and water polo careers at Fresno Pacific, a Division II program. Marshall was honored at Dos Pueblos’ fall signing day.

Cierra Furneaux – Cal Lutheran Women’s Water Polo

Furneaux will look to make a splash in her college years as she will be attending and playing Division-III water polo at Cal Lutheran.

“She has a work ethic and character that will carry her through life’s most difficult challenges,” Dos Pueblos head water polo coach Chris Parrish said. “She navigates life with wisdom and kindness for everyone that she comes in contact with.”

While Furneaux was only a member of the Dos Pueblos aquatics program for two years, the impact she left behind is immense.

“We’re proud of you and only wish we had more time. Two years wasn’t enough,” Parrish said. “Cal Lutheran will be a better university the first day you walk on campus.”

Eli Carnaghe – UC Santa Cruz Swim

Carnaghe will make the trip up the California coast for his college career, as he will study and compete at the Division III level for the UC Santa Cruz swim program.

“It was a great environment, and I’m looking forward to spending the next four years there,” Carnaghe said of UC Santa Cruz.

While Carnaghe made an impact on the Dos Pueblos water polo team as well, Carnaghe will be focusing his talents on the swim team as a Banana Slug.

“I really liked the campus and the nature. I love the town; it’s pretty similar to Santa Barbara. It’s a really beautiful area,” Carnaghe said.

Cate Bishop – Seattle University Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country

Bishop will be running at some of the highest levels during her college career, as she is set to compete at the Division I level for the Seattle University women’s track & field team.

“I love the rain, and it won’t be too cold… It’s my favorite weather to run in,” Bishop said. “The nursing program is a big deal to me. Everyone was so welcoming, and it’s a good-sized school.”

Bishop, who has been one of the best cross-country runners and distance track & field runners in town as a Charger, will most likely be competing in the 5K race in track & field while focusing on cross country.

“There was a lot of back and forth, I wasn’t sure I was going to run in college… I just realized that I couldn’t give it up, and I’m really excited,” Bishop said.

Harper Wolfe-Lyons – Amherst College Women’s Track & Field

Wolfe-Lyons is set to switch coasts as she moves on to the college level, signing to run track & field at Amherst College, a Division III program in Massachusetts.

“As she makes her way to Amherst, I’m so proud that we’re sending out one of the best of all time to the East Coast,” Dos Pueblos track & field coach David Jackson said.

Wolfe-Lyons has done a little bit of everything during her time as a Charger, finishing in the top-10 in program history in the javelin (No. 1), 300-meter hurdles (No. 7), shot put (No. 8) and the 100-meter race (No. 10).

“It does me a great honor to see (her) conditioning and leadership continue as (she) moves forward,” Jackson said. “Beyond that, her selflessness, community support, leadership, (being a) good example and role model is what is going to be remembered when the youth of this community grow up to become future Chargers.”

Linus Martin – UC Davis Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country

Martin put pen to paper to solidify his commitment to attend UC Davis and compete for the Aggies’ Division-I level track & field program.

“It was never easy. When you come to things late and you jump in with both feet in a team on the caliber that we have, you instantly come to the challenge. You rise up,” Jackson said of Martin’s Dos Pueblos career.

Martin rose to that challenge as one of the best distance runners on the track & field team and a member of the CIF-SS champion cross country team from last fall.

“He helped hang a banner in his gym. I’ve seen the growth from a little rascal to a captain of the team, and it really makes me proud. I’m glad that he stuck it out,” Jackson said.

Keiran Buell – Pacific University Men’s Soccer

Buell signed to continue his academic and athletic careers in Oregon as he will play Division-III soccer for Pacific University.

“I’m excited that [Buell] is going to get to go to a university that is so matched, so well matched for you,” Dos Pueblos boys soccer head coach Matt York said.

Buell served as the lone goalkeeper on the roster for the Chargers this season, helping the team to a 7-9-7 overall record, holding the opposing team to one goal or fewer in 16 matches.

“He’s an avid outdoorsman, and he’s already been working so much within the fields of sports medicine and kinesiology, and he will continue those pursuits [at Pacific] as well,” Buell said.

Carly Letendre – University of Puget Sound Women’s Basketball

Letendre will continue her academic and basketball careers in the Pacific Northwest, playing at the Division-III level for the Puget Sound women’s basketball squad.

“Everything was just so green compared to here. It was really beautiful and it rained a lot and that was really nice, I like the rain,” Letendre said of her future in Oregon.

She has been one of the best players in the program since her freshman year, and she ended her four years as the Dos Pueblos girls basketball all-time leading scorer.

“[Signing] means a lot to me, because I feel like I’ve worked really hard for this moment, and I’m just really grateful for this opportunity,” Letendre said. “[Basketball] has just given me so much, and I’m really grateful that I’ve gotten to play for so long.”

Anastasia Brunner – Idaho State Softball

Brunner will become a Bengal in the fall as she will continue her academic career and play Division I softball at Idaho State. Brunner was honored at Dos Pueblos’ fall signing day.

Linnea Clapinski – D’Youville University Women’s Lacrosse

Clapinski is set to head across the country for her college years as she will compete at the Division-II level for the D’Youville women’s lacrosse team in New York. Clapinski was honored at Dos Pueblos’ fall signing day.
