Dos Pueblos cross country began the 2026 fall season at the Mt. San Antonio College Mountie Xpress Invitational on Saturday.

The Chargers boys and girls each finished in 20th place as a team in merged results of the 2-mile race.

“There was good racing Saturday, but there was also something more important for August: growth, sportsmanship and community,” Dos Pueblos head coach David Jackson said.

“Athletes competed through the finish, supported one another throughout the meet and represented Dos Pueblos as teammates rather than simply individuals wearing the same uniform.”

The boys squad averaged a time of 11:02 among its five scorers, with Ian McMurtry leading the charge at third-place overall with a time of 10:04.1.

McMurtry was followed by teammates Dylan Adam (11:03.4, 105th), Charles Contakes (11:14, 145th), Kai Plascencia-Ibarra (11:19.1, 165th) and Jadyn Peterson (11:26.4, 182nd) as the team’s scorers.

Meanwhile, the girls team averaged 13:44 for their top-five racers, with the gap between their first and fifth runner being just 51 seconds.

Gwen Shea paced the Charger girls at 62nd overall with a time of 13:11.7, and she was joined by Selah Blackwell (13:37.2, 110th), Mitzi Myers (13:45.5, 129th), Abby Chou (13:59.9, 176th) and Jasmin Vela (14:02.6, 182nd).

Dos Pueblos will return to the course for the Scary Dairy Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 5.
