Dos Pueblos cross country ran in the Ojai Invitational on Saturday, with the girls squad finishing in second place and the boys ending in third.
Eamon Gordon was the race champion for the boys, finishing with a time of 15:53.37.
Gordon’s effort was followed by Cullen Gully (16:42.45), Dominic Corral (16:51.27), Andy Brennan (17:00.17) and Oliver Saleh (17:04.87).
“Our close pack time will be our key to success in this highly competitive division this year,” Charger coach David Jackson said. “I’m proud of the boys for pulling together and packing up.”
The girls, meanwhile, were paced by Vienza Machuca’s time of 20:01, a personal best.
“Vienza continues to push us from the front of the pack, and despite racing for the first time on this course, she exceeded her previous 3-mile best time by nearly a minute,” Jackson said.
The other Chargers to finish were Eloise Shea (20:31), Sophie Saleh (20:34), Cate Bishop (21:03) and Maddy Myers (21:40).
“This team has a great captain in Sophie, and we’re proud of her work closing out pack spread time,” Jackson said. “We’re excited to return to action in two weeks on the same course for our Channel League Duals.”
On top of the varsity-level success, the Charger Novice Girls ended their race in first place as a team.
Dos Pueblos will return to the Lake Casitas course on Friday, Sept. 29 following a bye week next week.
