Dos Pueblos flag football pulled out a 19-13 comeback overtime victory over Westlake on Saturday in Westlake Village.

The No. 11 Chargers have ended 1-1 in CIF-SS Open Division playoff pool play. If No. 2-seeded Newport Harbor defeats No. 7 Westlake on Wednesday, Dos Pueblos’ season comes to an end. A Westlake win would force a three-way tiebreaker that would be decided by point differential.

The Dos Pueblos and Westlake defenses had the upper hand in the early stages on Saturday, as the first quarter ended in a scoreless tie.

However, the Westlake offense woke up in the second quarter and scored twice to pull away for a 13-0 lead heading into halftime.

Dos Pueblos made some adjustments at halftime and came back strong, marching down the field and scoring on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Ruby Streatfeild to Brooklyn Hedricks.

The extra point was good to Kindah Ahmad-Reda to cut the Warrior lead to 13-7 with 5:17 left in the third quarter.

The Charger defense then supplied a big play, as Alma Basave undercut a pass for an interception to give her team the momentum heading into the fourth.

After trading stalled possessions, Dos Pueblos got back in the endzone with 2:45 left in the game on a pass from Streatfeild to Tabby Weller. The extra point was no good, and the 13-13 tie remained, sending the game into overtime.

The Charger defense made the first stand of overtime, and the offense came through as Paige Ferro rushed in the game-winning touchdown from 10 yards out.

Dos Pueblos pitched a shutout in the second half, led by a four-sack effort from Mayla Watt.
