Dos Pueblos football cruised to a 56-0 rout of Del Sol in a non-league matchup on Friday at Scott O’Leary Stadium in Goleta.
The Chargers (2-2) dominated all facets of the game against the Jaguars (0-4), who are in the school’s first-ever season of tackle football.
After they were forced to punt on their opening offensive drive, the Chargers got on the scoreboard thanks to a punt-return touchdown by Callan Lee to go up 7-0 with 8:15 left in the first.
Later in the opening quarter, quarterback Grady Felix connected with Micah Barnhart on a 25-yard touchdown to double the lead to 14-0.
As the defense continued to stifle Del Sol, the Chargers added onto their lead at the 7:32 mark of the second on a short rushing touchdown by Diego Chamu.
The Felix-to-Barnhart duo connected once again later in the second on an electric play, as Felix found Barnhart for a 70-yard touchdown pitch and catch to bring the lead to 28-0.
The Chargers then got the ball back on an interception by Lee, setting up a short rushing touchdown by Diego Meza to take a 35-0 lead into halftime.
Dos Pueblos went right back to work in the second half, beginning the scoring with a 20-yard rushing touchdown on a keeper by Drew Schultz to extend the advantage to 42-0.
Following yet another defensive stop by the Chargers, Ivan Velez scored on a rushing touchdown in his first game of the season after recovering from an ACL injury. DP led 49-0 at the end of the third quarter.
With a running clock in the fourth quarter, Dos Pueblos rounded out the scoring with four minutes left to play on a 70-yard touchdown pass from Schultz to Jack Campbell to bring the game to its final score of 56-0.
The Chargers will be on the road against Ventura High next Friday at 7 p.m.
