Dos Pueblos football kicked off Tri-County League play with a convincing 35-7 win over Hueneme on Friday in Oxnard.
The Chargers (4-2, 1-0 TCL) have now won three straight games heading into a road matchup with Royal High next week.
Dos Pueblos opened the scoring midway through the first quarter when junior quarterback Grady Felix found junior wideout Zaden Battle for a 15-yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead.
The Chargers then came through on the defensive end as sophomore Caeden Lee hauled in an interception deep in DP territory to keep Hueneme off the board.
The Charger offense responded as the game flipped to the second quarter, marching right down the field and scoring on a 30-yard touchdown pitch-and-catch from Felix to senior running back Chase Johnson to double the lead to 14-0.
Dos Pueblos continued to dominate on both ends, forcing a turnover on downs before junior Joan Esparza ripped off a 20-yard rushing touchdown to extend the advantage to 21-0 at the midpoint of the second quarter.
Hueneme answered with its first touchdown of the night and, despite a flurry of action late in the half, the Charger 21-7 lead held into halftime.
Dos Pueblos continued to control the clock in the third quarter, with Esparza bursting free for a 40-yard rushing touchdown to extend the advantage to 28-7, which remained through the rest of the third.
The Chargers kept it rolling early in the fourth when junior Seth Orozco connected with senior Baruc Rios for a 20-yard touchdown pass and a 35-7 advantage, which proved to be the final score.
The Dos Pueblos defense continued to stifle Hueneme down the stretch on its way to the dominant road win.
