Dos Pueblos girls cross country captured first place at the Morro Bay Invitational on Saturday in Morro Bay.

While the Charger girls claimed the title with a team score of 67 and an average time of 20:53 in a field of 18, the boys team slotted into ninth place out of 26 at 255 points and an average time of 18:03.

“Their coaches and I are proud of the running community we’ve helped to build in the Goodland,” Dos Pueblos head coach David Jackson said. “At Dos Pueblos, we’re continuing to grow with each race and practice. While we have a long way to go this season, we’re on our way to excellence.”

The trio of Iyla Herrick, Selah Blackwell and Gwen Shea led the charge in the girls race by finishing in fifth, sixth and seventh place, respectively.

Herrick crossed the finish line in 20:19, Blackwell recorded a time of 20:31.5 and Shea finished the race in 20:34.3.

They were followed by teammates Maddy Myers (21:25.9, 24th), Mitzi Myers (21:35.9, 25th), Abby Chou (22:27.9, 37th) and Gianna Conant (22:43.4, 41st).

Quentin Holland was the top finisher for the Dos Pueblos boys, earning a time of 17:36.9 to finish in 33rd place individually.

The other Charger racers were Dane Kosek (17:50.4, 40th), Tristan Marston (18:05.8, 52nd), Dylan Adam (18:21.1, 64th), Adrian Rubio (18:23.6, 66th), James Domingues (18:41.9, 84th) and Townes Widge (18:42, 85th).

Dos Pueblos will be back in action next Saturday at the Ojai Invitational and Woodbridge Invitational.
