Dos Pueblos girls golf captured a non-league victory over Oxnard High to begin its team season on Wednesday at Glen Annie Golf Course in Goleta.
The Chargers (1-0) combined for a team score of 225 to beat out the Yellow Jackets’ total mark of 257.
“The DP girls golfers really stepped up to card some pretty good numbers on a really hot day. After a tough weather week, I was very impressed by their mental toughness,” Dos Pueblos head coach Dan Choi said.
The Dos Pueblos duo of Celeste Alcaraz and Bella Sebastian led the way and shared the medalist honors by each shooting a 40.
They were followed by teammates Sophia Morales (46), Alina van Hooijdonk (49) and Sophie Ralston (50) to round out the Charger scoring.
“Overall, we are very pleased with the grit and character that our golfers showed on the course today. It is great momentum going into a tough three-match week coming up,” Choi said.
