Dos Pueblos girls water polo capped off the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions with a pair of victories on Saturday at Elings Aquatic Center.
The Chargers opened up the day with a 12-10 victory over Alta Loma. Dos Pueblos jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the first and never looked back en route to the win.
Dev Wigo and Kyra Jones paced the offense with six and five goals, respectively, while Keira McAvoy rounded out the scoring. HanaLora Abel contributed four assists and five exclusions drawn as well.
Dos Pueblos’ weekend came to a close with a dramatic 6-5 victory over the Carlsbad Lancers.
With the two teams tied at 5-5 late in the fourth quarter, Dos Pueblos’ Franki Court scored the game-winner with three seconds left to end the tournament on a high note.
Addison Parrish and Court scored two goals apiece in the win while Reagan Mack and Megan Garner combined for 11 total saves.
With the pair of wins, Dos Pueblos (7-6) finished the tournament in 13th place as a team.
San Marcos @ SB TOC
The Royals began the final day of the tournament with a 12-7 loss to Mater Dei in the semifinals.
Mater Dei, the No. 1-ranked team in the state on MaxPreps, went on to defeat Orange Lutheran later in the day to capture the tournament championship.
In the semifinal loss, Lucy Haaland-Ford led San Marcos with four goals while Naomi Enright scored twice. Shea Eastabrook also scored while Marina Brown had a strong defensive game.
Later in the day, the Royals dropped the third-place matchup to Newport Harbor by a score of 10-2.
Bethany King, who made the All-Tournament Team, and Lily Bordofsky accounted for the team’s goals while Jade Pattison recorded four blocks and drew two ejections.
San Marcos (15-5) will take on Dos Pueblos in a crosstown matchup on Tuesday.
Santa Barbara High @ Thousand Oaks Tournament
The Dons finished off a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Thousand Oaks Tournament with victories over Beaumont and Royal on Saturday.
In the 8-3 win over Beaumont, Juliana Horton led Santa Barbara High with six goals and four ejections earned. Meanwhile, Nina Abraham tallied four saves in the first half and Kana Wolfe held Beaumont scoreless in the second.
The Dons followed up that win with an 11-3 victory over Royal in which both Rose Nelley and Wolfe scored three goals.
Yesenia Dunn tallied two goals of her own while Hope Smith, Nina Abraham and Naleah La Riba-Kveta netted one goal apiece.
Santa Barbara High (9-6) will be on the road against Buena on Tuesday.
