Dos Pueblos Little League is doing its part in honoring the legacy of Jackie Robinson during the week of Jackie Robinson Day.

Jackie Robinson Day is celebrated by Major League Baseball on April 15 as every player in the league dons his number 42 on their jerseys.

DPLL will celebrate Robinson and his impact on the sport by ceremoniously renaming its four primary baseball fields at Girsh Park.

The DPLL Majors Field was renamed Jackie Robinson Field to honor him as the first African American to play in Major League Baseball in 1947.

The Minors Field is now named Roberto Clemente Field. Clemente was the first Latin American player to be inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.

The Coast Field is honoring Masanori Murakami, who was the first Japanese player in Major League Baseball in 1964.

The Juniors/Challengers Field is named Jim Abbott Field. Abbott is one of the most celebrated baseball players with a disability, as he pitched for 10 years in  Major League Baseball without a right hand.

DPLL is also honoring the late Fernando Valenzuela, once of the most impactful Latin American players in Major League Baseball history, with a memorial at Girsh Park.
