The Dos Pueblos Little League 13U All-Stars kicked off the District 63 tournament with a 6-3 win over Foothill LL on Sunday at El Carro Park in Carpinteria.

With the victory, DPLL advanced into the winners’ bracket and will take on Fillmore LL on Tuesday at 5 p.m. back at El Carro Park.

It was a back-and-forth affair early, as Foothill went up 2-0 in the second inning before DPLL tied things up with two runs of its own in the bottom of the second.

Foothill retook the lead with a homer in the third, but DPLL snatched the lead back for good in the sixth inning to pull away for the victory.

DPLL totaled 10 hits in Sunday’s victory, with Hector Aguilera, Ollie Cottle and Tyler Newendorp tallying two hits apiece. Cottle drove in two runs, while Aguilera and Newendorp tallied one RBI apiece.

Meanwhile, Nick Brakka got the starting nod and allowed two unearned runs in two innings and Isaiah Estrella fired five strong innings with six strikeouts. 

DPLL 13U team is made up of Cyrus Brunner, Hector Aguilera, Henry Wood, Isaiah Estrella, Julian Flores, Matteo Conant, Mauricio Galicia, Nick Brakka, Ollie Cottle, Santiago Grande, Sebastian Gutierrez and Tyler Newendorp.  

The team is managed by Ken Newendorp with coaches Bryan Conant, Chris Lem and Mario Galicia.
