The Dos Pueblos LL 13U All-Stars advanced to the District 63 title game with a 4-3 win over Foothill LL on Monday at El Carro Park in Carpinteria.
DPLL will now face off against Santa Paula LL back at El Carro Park on Tuesday at 5 p.m. DPLL will have to beat Santa Paula twice to win the championship and advance to the Section tournament.
In Monday’s matchup, the two teams were tied at 3-3 before Sebastian Gutierrez roped a game-winning single that scored Henry Wood to go up 4-3 for good.
Wood went 2-for-2 on the day with his second homer in as many days to pace the DPLL offense.
Meanwhile, Nick Brakka got the start and fired 1 â…” solid innings before handing the ball off to Isaiah Estrella, who proceeded to allow zero earned runs and strike out five batters in the final 5 â…“ innings.
Estrella put an exclamation point on the victory by striking out the side in the bottom of the seventh to seal the win.
The DPLL 13U team is made up of Cyrus Brunner, Hector Aguilera, Henry Wood, Isaiah Estrella, Julian Flores, Matteo Conant, Mauricio Galicia, Nick Brakka, Ollie Cottle, Santiago Grande, Sebastian Gutierrez, & Tyler Newendorp.
The coaches are Bryan Conant, Chris Lem, Mario Galicia and the manager is Ken Newendorp.
