Channel League co-champion Dos Pueblos and fourth-place San Marcos drew home games for the first round of the CIF-SS softball playoffs in their respective divisions.
Dos Pueblos (18-6) will host Crescenta Valley (16-12) in a Division 3 opener while San Marcos (14-11) welcomes Santiago/Garden Grove (15-4) in a Division 5 matchup. Both games are scheduled for Friday at 3:15 p.m.
San Marcos received the No. 4 seed in its division. The Royals are led offensively by Isa Malarkey (33 hits, .452 average) and Solana Sandoval (34 hits, .425). Santiago was runner-up to 12-0 Anaheim in the Coast League. The team has a potent offense, scoring 213 runs this season.
Dos Pueblos’ opponent won the Pacific League title and has scored 203 runs while allowing 114. Senior catcher Kate Barnes has hit 11 homers and driven in 35 RBI.
Anastasia Brunner paces the DP attack with nine homers, 35 RBI, 53 hits and a .452 batting average. Her younger sister, Julianna, is the No. 2 hitter with a .474 average. The Chargers have scored 194 runs this season.
