Dos Pueblos fell behind early and couldn’t recover in a Santa Barbara Holiday Classic matchup with Stockdale Wednesday, 82-49.
“Stockdale made it really hard on us to get in rhythm on offense,” Charger coach Joe Zamora said. “They had a fast start and we had a hard time playing from behind.”
Stockdale took a 29-8 after the first quarter, and went on to lead Dos Pueblos 47-17 at the half. The second half was close to even.
Justin Stock led the Chargers with 16 points with a good night from the perimeter.
“Matthew Zamora stepped in at point guard and had seven assists and did a good job on defense,” coach Zamora said. “Sophomore Shane Grant had a solid game on both ends of the court.”
Dos Pueblos falls to 5-7 overall, and is 1-1 in Holiday Classic play after an opening win against Righetti. The Chargers next face Holy Martyrs, 62-57 winners over Sierra Pacific, at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Valley View 68, Santa Barbara 48
Sophomore Luke Zuffelato scored 16 points to lead the Dons in a loss to Valley View of Morena Valley Wednesday.
Santa Barbara is now 1-1 in Holiday Classic play, and faces Righetti at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
“We had a rough first half, lacking energy and execution on both sides of the ball,” Santa Barbara coach Corey Adam said. The Dons were down 34-25 at the half.
“We played much better in the second half, but it was not reflected in the score. “When we forced long contested shots, long rebounds went to Valley View. When we forced turnovers we did not convert, wide open shots didn’t fall, etcetera.
“Just one of those days. Proud of the boys for how they responded after the half.”
Jack Holdren and Finn Whipps combined for 13 points at the center position for Santa Barbara. The Dons are now 6-9 overall.
