The Dos Pueblos baseball team will make its debut in the CIF SoCal Championships as the No. 1 seed in Division 3.
The Chargers will open the eight-team tournament against No. 8 St. Anthony of Long Beach on Tuesday at Scott O’Leary Field. Game time is scheduled at 4 p.m.
Dos Pueblos (22-11) enters the tournament as the CIF-SS Division 4 runner-up. It lost to Ganesha, 8-2, in the championship game on Saturday at Blair Field. St. Anthony (21-9) was blanked by Elsinore, 2-0, in the Division 5 final.
The other matchups in D3 So Cal Championships are: No. 2 Mt Carmel (San Diego Section D2 champion) vs. No. 7 Elsinore (CIF-SS D5 champion); No. 3 Venice (L.A. City Section Open Division runner-up) vs. No. 6 Trinity Classical Academy (CIF-SS D4 semifinalist) and No. 4. Birmingham (L.A. City Open Division semifinalist) vs. No. 5 University City (San Diego Section D3 champion).
Tuesday’s winners will play in the semifinals on Thursday and the championship game is on Saturday.
