Several Dos Pueblos swimmers advanced to the CIF-SS Div. 3 finals at the CIF-SS prelims on Wednesday.
“All the boys had a great time at the championship meet and had fast swims,” Chargers coach Kendall Kuga said. “It was great to see boys from all grade levels at this meet.”
“The younger swimmers had a chance to experience a big meet with the older swimmers guiding them along. I am so proud of all the boys for putting in the effort and being so competitive.”
Eli Carnaghe led the way, placing sixth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.02 seconds to advance to the finals. Liam Young will swim in the A Final of the 100 backstroke after coming in eighth at 56.76 seconds.
Meanwhile, Grant Nelson is seeded seventh in the 100 fly after recording a time of 52.64 seconds.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Adam Gelman, Aricin Marshall, Nelson and Carnaghe will swim in the consolation final and are ranked 11th.
The 400 freestyle relay squad of Ben Fuhrer, Nelson, Marshall and Carnaghe came in 14th place and will swim for 10th.
The CIF-SS Div. 3 Finals will be on Friday at Mt. San Antonio College.
Carpinteria High @ D2 Prelims
Jake Ehlers and Lucia Smith represented the Warriors at the Div. 2 prelims on Wednesday.
Ehlers will return to the finals in both the 100 and 200 freestyle after improving on both of his times to better his seeded position.
Meanwhile, Smith finished in 36th place in her event.
“We are very proud of the two swimmers for qualifying and earning the opportunity to compete with some of the fastest in the area,” Carpinteria High head coach Jon Otsuki said. “Division 2 is extremely fast for a small school like Carpinteria.”
