Micah Goss and Jan Schmidtchen each posted double-figure kills to power the Dos Pueblos boys volleyball team to a four-set win over visiting Oak Park on Tuesday at Sovine Gym. The scores were 25-17, 25-13, 22-25, 25-15.
Goss the led the Chargers with 13 kills and Schmidtchen had 11. The pair also served tough, with Goss recording five aces and Schmidtchen three.
Matthew Wilcox was a force in the middle with five kills and four blocks. Ewan Richards had eight kills, eight digs and two aces.
Setter Grant Hughes handed out 29 assists to go with seven digs, three kills and three aces.
Dos Pueblos coach Ehren Hug said the team overcame several hitting errors to take down a scrappy Calabasas squad.
“We struggled to find the court at times, but I was happy with their competitive attitude tonight,” said Hug. “The fellas got past their mistakes and on to the next play pretty well.
“We compounded quite a few hitting errors at the end of the third set as Calabasas was hitting a stride. They shook that set off and came out to a 4-0 start in the fourth and never looked back.”
Dos Pueblos (3-0) opens Channel League play Thursday night at home against Ventura
