Dos Pueblos boys and girls wrestling each fell to Buena on the road on Wednesday.

The boys squad fell by a score of 38-37 while the girls dropped their matchup 42-0 with just three players on the roster.

For the boys, five different Chargers secured pins in their victories. Francisco Espinosa, Ryan Risdall, Tyler Bryce, Grant Yelles and Brody Hansen all pinned their opponents en route to a win.

Meanwhile, Seamus Fergus and Sylis Penniman came out on top of their matchups by way of decisions, Fergus’ being a major decision and Penniman winning by minor decision. 

“We had a few young wrestlers step up tonight and they didn’t disappoint,” Dos Pueblos coach Matt Bernard said. “The team wrestled tough, they were energized, and kept getting at their Buena opponents. 

“The wrestlers and coaching staff have been putting in the effort to master the basics, and it shows.”

As for the girls, the trio of Alyssa Warner, Estephany Rodriguez and Rebecca Murillo showed improvement in a challenging matchup.
