Dos Pueblos wrestling captured a pair of wins in a crosstown dual meet against San Marcos to clinch the Santa Barbara City Championship on Wednesday inside the Thunderhut.

The Charger boys earned a 55-22 victory while the girls team picked up a 42-0 win over the Royals.

“The boys team is really looking like a well-oiled machine out there,” Dos Pueblos head coach Matt Bernard said. “From the first whistle to the last, they’re hungry, they execute and they leave it all out on the mat.

“Our varsity girls continue to push their win streak and are showing good improvement all around. They were able to get two matches tonight, which is great because that experience is what helps them grow and improve.”

In the boys matchup, Dos Pueblos tallied forfeit wins at 120, 157, 165, 190 and 285 pounds to build up a comfortable lead.

Jason Dubbs (106), Andrew Gilligan (126), Peter Ruehlman (138), Seamus Fergus (150) and Ethan Ono (215) won by falls to lead the Chargers to the team victory.

Meanwhile, Brody Hansen won by decision at 175 pounds to round out the Dos Pueblos winners.

San Marcos tallied wins in the 113, 132 and 144-pound weight classes.

As for the girls matchup, Dos Pueblos’ Yaretzi Arredondo (105) and Lesly De La Rosa (145) won by pin. The rest of the weight classes were forfeited by the Royals.
