Dos Pueblos and Santa Ynez split tennis matches in Channel League action Wednesday, the Charger boys taking a 16-2 win and the Pirate girls scraping by after tying 9-9 in sets and taking a 76-73 edge in total games.

In the girls’ competition, Dos Pueblos’ No. 1 singles player Kate Scherz swept her three sets with the loss of only one game. Mia and Cami Chou also swept their three sets in doubles.

For Santa Ynez, Kaitlyn Thompson won two sets at No. 1 singles. The doubles teams of Alana Hinkens and Sophia Curti, and Tessa Haws and Isabella Curti each won two sets.

The Charger girls are now 6-3 in Channel League play and overall.

The Dos Pueblos boys, now 8-2 in league play and 10-2 overall, mixed it up for the last match of the season.

“Today we had our Senior Day, so got to try out some fun lineup matches and experiences for all of our 5 senior players,” coach Laura Housinger said. “The guys enjoyed playing with new people, cheering each other on, and playing their last home match of the season.”

For Santa Ynez, No 1 singles player Noah Thompson and the No. 2 doubles team of Ethan Guillemin and Jace Hurnblad each won a set.
