It came down to the third set of the No. 4 match as Dos Pueblos edged Santa Barbara 3-2 on the sand Tuesday in a Channel League contest.
With the team score tied at two, the Charger team of Natalia Brofferio and Jaden Jones pulled out that deciding match over Santa Barbara’s Ivy Van Zant and Remy Rosales, 21-13, 18-21, 15-9.
“Though things didn’t quite fall our way, all our pairs battled high winds to perform some solid team volleyball,” Santa Barbara coach Kristin Hempy said. “Special shoutout to Tessa (de Albergaria) and Augustine (Wooten) for battling back after a loss to take the W in three when we really needed it. They have improved so much this season.”
The Chargers’ No. 1 team of Portia Sherman and Chloe Hoffman swept Santa Barbara’s Campbell Brown and Mary Johnson, 21-12, 21-12.
The Channel League tournament takes place Tuesday and Wednesday of next week at West Beach.

Santa Ynez Beach Volleyball defeated No. 1 ranked San Marcos in a league duel hosted by Santa Ynez.
“The girls played with grit and their hard work paid off,” Santa Ynez head coach Melissa Rogers said. “San Marcos is a great ball control team that plays solid defense. Putting balls away against them is a grind and steady transition play is required to earn points. The girls did a great job of controlling the ball and capitalizing on opportunities when available.
“Hannah Allen and Cailin Glover set the tone with a 21-16, 21-15 win at the 3’s. At the 2’s spot Kaki Allen and Sadie Lishman lost 20-22, 10-21. The duel came down to the 1’s match with Jayda Henrey and Gianna Pecile winning 21-19, 21-15.”
