Dos Pueblos pounded five doubles, jumped out to an early lead and beat Cabrillo, 9-3, in their final Channel League softball game on Wednesday.
Bella Nuño had two doubles and went 3 for 5 to lead an 11-hit attack. Summer McCeney went 2-4 with a double and four RBI. Jessica Reveles drove in two runs and hit a double, nad Lacy Spear had two RBI as DP finished league play at 14-1 and will take a 21-5 record into the CIF playoffs.
Cabrillo was playing its final game in the Channel League. The school moves into the CIF Central Section next season.
Nuño and Kaitlyn Ashby shared the pitching duties for DP.
“Bella and Kaitlyn did an outstanding job shutting down their offense,” said coach Mike Gerken. “Bella’s velocity was really good. Kaitlyn threw well and was able to use the change-up to keep Cabrillo off balance, getting three come-backers in her three innings. When (Cabrillo) did put some pressure on us, the defense came through.”
