The Dos Pueblos girls lacrosse team stayed unbeaten in Channel League play with a 16-8 win over Cate at home Tuesday.
Avery Ball scored six goals and distributed two assists, and Caitlin Duncan added three goals to the Chargers’ efforts. Goalie Maddie Nees had eight saves.
On defense, Dos Pueblos coach Samantha Limkeman cited the defensive play of Eloise Shea on Cate’s Phebe Hancock and added that “Gracie Fuentes on defense played the game of her life, with four caused turnovers as well. She planted her feet, held her ground, and got the ball back to our attack.”
Dos Pueblos is now 7-0 in league play and 15-1 overall. The Chargers play San Marcos on Friday and hope to secure their fourth consecutive league championship with a win.
“I’m proud of this team and the way we stay passionate and engaged from start to finish,” Limkeman said. “We try our plays, run new formations, and even successfully face guarded for the first time this season. It’s so fun watching these girls play this incredible sport.”
San Marcos, 19 Nordhoff 2
The San Marcos girls ran out to a 12-1 halftime lead and in the end beat Nordhoff 19-2 in a Channel League game Tuesday.
Senior Emma Neal and junior KC Springer each scored three goals and had an assist to tie for highest points.
“We slowed it down but finished well looking for the good opportunity and we had some offense,” San Marcos head coach Paul Ramsey said.
“Our focus going into this game was keeping our intensity all the way through and I’m pleased to say we did that.”
The Royals are 11-4 overall and 5-1 in Channel League play. They play another league game Thursday at Cate, with a 5:30 p.m. start time.
