Dos Pueblos lacrosse standout Avery Ball is now an All-American.
Ball, an attacker for the Chargers who will be a senior this fall, was named a USA Lacrosse All-American Thursday.
This past season, Ball earned team MVP honors in leading the balanced Chargers to a 18-2 record, including an undefeated Channel League championship. She was also the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Lacrosse Player of the Year.
Ball’s Dos Pueblos coach, Sam Limkeman, said Ball is the first Dos Pueblos and Santa Barbara Unified School District lacrosse player to earn the All-American honor. Limkeman nominated Ball for the national honor, and she was voted in by Southern California coaches.
According to the USA Lacrosse announcement of the All-America honorees:
“A USA Lacrosse All-American is a player who exhibits superior skills and techniques and possesses exceptional game sense and knowledge. A USA Lacrosse All-American is one of the best players in the United States, while also embodying excellent sportsmanship.
“A USA Lacrosse All-Academic honoree is a player who exhibits exemplary lacrosse skills, good sportsmanship on the field, and represents high standards of academic achievement in the classroom.”
Ball was “junior captain this year and will help lead the Chargers next year of course as well, Limkeman said. “She continues to play for Mad Dog club in Southern California on their Elite team and she is just a powerhouse.”
The great Charger girls lacrosse run in 2022 was the last for coach Limkeman, who recently moved out of state with her family.
