Senior Seba Dupont scored two goals to help rally the Dos Pueblos boys soccer team to a 3-2 season-opening win at Santa Maria on Wednesday.

“Today was our first game played together after a very long hiatus,” said DP coach Matt York. “It was great to have the boys back out on the field. We were missing a few of our teammates, but the boys that were there really gave it their all.”

The Chargers trailed 2-1 at halftime, and were fortunate to be down by one goal.

“Our goalkeeper Kylan Johnson made a couple of fantastic flying saves to really keep us in the game early on and deserves to be called the man of the match,” said York.

The coach used several players off the bench in the comeback win on a warm day in Santa Maria.

“I want to applaud all the boys who are ready to step up and contribute,” he said.

York added: “We had multiple players start their first varsity game for us today, and it was fun to see your boys grow up and contribute to the team they worked so hard to make.”

The next game for Dos Pueblos is at Santa Barbara High on Tuesday.
