Laguna Blanca 3, Thacher 0

Danica Rux sparked a second-set comeback, leading Laguna Blanca to a sweep at Thacher in a Frontier League match Thursday night. The scores were 25-21, 26-24, 25-21.

Down 23-20, Rux tied the score with her serve, and the Owls made plays to finish the set.

Lola Hall led the Owls with 10 kills and seven digs and Sarah Woodhouse had seven kills and seven assists.

“This was a nice league road victory for us,” said coach Jason Donnelly. “We had to deal with a little adversity as we had an injury to one of our setters on Tuesday night. Sarah Woodhouse stepped in to set a 6-2 and it was great to see our team stay composed, particularly when things were close late in games.

“Paloma Lujan has stepped into our libero role and has been playing well.  She’s passing more consistently, playing solid defense, and learning to use her voice on the court.”

Laguna Blanca improves to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in league.
