Lauren Elliott scored six goals to lead a potent Dos Pueblos offense in a 22-2 win over Santa Barbara High in a Channel League girls lacrosse match on Thursday.

“Despite the heat, the Chargers continued to give all their energy and passion to each play,” said DP coach Sam Limkeman. “Our midfields and attackers were quick to receive 50-, 60-yard clears from our goalie, Maddie Nees to get the ball down on our attack and run plays that we’ve been working on a lot over the last two weeks.”

Avery Ball and Caitlin Duncan each scored four goals and Autumn Litten, Chloe Gotsis and Alice Sperling had two apiece.

Pilar Carbajal, Rubi Friedenberg and Gracie Fuentes applied defensive pressure and forced turnovers.

“Their defense coupled with our fast transitions helped to keep the ball on our attacking side most of the game,” said Limkeman.

Daisy Foreman and Elenor Mangone scored for Santa Barbara.

“DP just happens to be in our league. However, we are in Division 3 and they are Division 1. It just puts us at a disadvantage right away,” said Santa Barbara coach Elayne Blessing. “As much as the  score didn’t show it, I have never been more proud of our team. We really controlled the game, not in goals but in tempo. We slowed it down. When we had it, we stuck with it, making their defense defend us for two to four minutes at a time.”

Dos Pueblos, 3-0 in league, hosts Thacher on Friday.
