A driver received moderate injuries after a crash involving a commercial truck for an event rental firm late Tuesday night at Gaviota.

At 10:40 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and American Medical Response were dispatched to the scene on northbound Highway 101 one-quarter mile north of Highway 1, fire spokeswoman Karen Cruz-Orduña said.

Emergency crews found the sedan’s front end under the trailer of the truck.

The car’s driver self-extricated and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ground ambulance, Cruz-Orduña said.

The truck’s driver was not injured, she added.

Fire crews were able to stop the diesel leak from the commercial truck, Cruz-Orduña said.

CHP officers were investigating the cause of the crash.

Northbound lanes of Highway 101 were closed for a time while emergency personnel removed the vehicles and investigated the crash.

The truck sported the name of Theoni Lifestyle Event Rentals, a Santa Barbara-based firm providing furniture and other supplies for events.
