A 32-year-old Lompoc man was killed in the Tuesday afternoon Highway 1 collision between a passenger vehicle and a semi truck, according to the Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Bureau.Â
The collision was reported on Highway 1 near Jalama Road around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday between a Honda Pilot and a semi truck.
The Honda Pilot driver was declared deceased at the scene and later identified as Victor Uriarte Madrid.Â
The truck driver declined medical attention, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials said the Pilot driver had crashed into the semi truck and the cause of the collision is under investigation.Â
Both lanes of the highway were blocked for several hours following the crash and investigation.
In addition to the CHP, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Lompoc Fire Department, American Medical Response and Sheriff-Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.
